The i-mate JAQ

i-mate is a genius when it comes to the manufacturing of unconventional mobile gadgets. One example of their finest creations is the i-mate JAQ, which is a broadly shaped smartphone, but still manages to maintain a sleek and trendy appearance. The gadget actually looks like a crystal whose edges shine when light falls on it.

The i-mate JAQ’s complexion gives a very cool, calm and clean feel to the user, which is one of the main reasons for the mobile phone’s success. Of course, it also comes with plenty of high-end features too. A user can use 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) networks, although 3G support is unfortunately missing. For a big and better view the phone incorporates a 2.8 inch TFT touch screen, which offers clarity of up to 320 x 240 pixels. For writing emails or text messages, the mobile includes a handwriting recognition feature, in addition to a full-sized QWERTY keyboard. The smartphone can send text messages, emails, and even be used for instant messaging.

The i-mate JAQ’s other smart attributes include a miniSD card, 64MB of RAM,128 MB of Read Only Memory and a speedy 200 MHz TI OMAP850 processor. The phone also incorporates Bluetooth v1.2, which is especially useful for wireless file and data transferring purposes. The whole phone is managed with the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC operating system. Moreover, the mobile phone has a standby battery time of up to 150 hours, but only 4 hours of talking time. However, unlike the i-mate JAM, this smartphone fails to include a camera, which is somewhat disappointing. Altogether this is a solid and decent smartphone, although its features do admittedly fail to dazzle.
