iPhone 4 finally jail broken

Like 3G and 3GS before it, the iPhone 4 is now victim to a high profile ‘official unofficial’ jail break by renowned iPhone hackers, The iPhone Dev Team.
Safari to blame
The iPhone Dev Team (quite the official-sounding name for a rogue group, huh?) who are behind many an Apple firmware hack have unlocked the gates to Apple’s latest handset.
The latest workaround is the simplest yet, by using Safari on your device and pointing the browser to the Jail Break Me site. From there, follow the simple instructions and viola, your once guarded iPhone is free to try all those things its parent (company) wanted to protect it from. This method works on all iOS devices – iPad and iPod Touch included.
You’re not breaking the law, by the way
A recent judgement, won by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, has seen a US judge declaring that an iPhone 4 jailbreak is not illegal in the US. Effectively, this means you can load applications that have not gone through Apple’s much maligned approval process.

Even then, though, Apple are still insistent that jail breaking the device is using it in a manner in which it was not intended, thus potentially voiding your warranty even if it is no longer illegal to do so. It’s kind of like any piece of electronics – it isn’t illegal to break the seal to get to the components but a broken seal equals voided warranty.
It would be irresponsible to not recommend you move with care when performing an iPhone 4 jailbreak. Even then, though, the people who have been jail breaking iOS devices since day, like The iPhone Dev Team, realise the value in reversing the jailbreak, which is quite straightforward, too.
In short, if you wanted to put fantastic iPhone apps – and there are plenty of those – that did not receive the Apple seal of approval, this iPhone 4 jailbreak will do the trick.
