Based in Hemel Hempstead, Dixons is a member of DSG International plc. Dixons was founded in 1937 and sells electrical appliances such as vacuum cleaners, white goods and cookers. As well as selling lots of laptops, netbooks, mobile phones, desktop PCs and computer accessories. Dixons laptops and computers are just one type of product the company sells, but it has become one of their most popular during the rise of netbook popularity.
In 2006, Dixons was removed from the highstreet as a brand but kept online and even offers dixons voucher codes. The shops were replaced with Currys.digital stores which are now a branch of Currys stores.
Within Dixons’ online shop they have a section called Greenshop which focuses on products which are eco-friendly and allows you to make informed buying decisions in regards to energy consumption of appliances.
The Dixons brand may have been removed from the highstreet but online, it is one of the UK’s favourite electronics brands. As such Dixons have spread across the internet with variations of their store with Dixons Entertainment, Dixons Memory Direct, Dixons Wines, Dixons iShop, CompareMore at Dixons and Dixons Photo Shop – myPix.com. They also publicise the DSGI spare parts website, Partmaster.
Other companies in the DSGI group include PC World, MicroWarehouse, Pixmania, Currys, The Link and MacWarehouse.
Dixons no longer have highstreet stores, but you can have your purchases delivered to your door.
