Plastic Logic Unveils New E-Book Reader

Recently – at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas – Plastic Logic gave us our first look at their soon to be released eBook entitled simply, QUE – pronounced ‘Q’. And what’s so special about this particular eBook? Well, because this eBook is specifically targeted towards business people, Plastic Logic feels that they have captured a niche’ within the busy eBook market. The ‘QUE’ acts like a mobile office – or more like your briefcase and all of your companies filing cabinets too. But I’ll get to the details in a moment.

The Look and Feel

In your hands, the QUE feels pretty much the same as Monday’s paper – weight and texture included – it’s about the thickness of half of your thumb side on, and comes in black. The QUE has a 10.7-inch touch-sensitive touchscreen made of shatterproof plastic, which reflects natural light making it easier to read in direct sunlight. And because it’s made of shatterproof plastic and not glass, the frame is slightly flexible (and less likely to crack) unlike some glass screen models.

Details

Since the QUE eBook reader is aimed at business people, Plastic Logic have agreed on several partnership deals with a number of professional and business newspapers, books etc. But more specifically QUE can convert PowerPoint, Word, Excel, ePub or PDF document formats from your BlackBerry, PC or MAC, while you’re adding notes to your calendar and emailing on separate sections of screen – all at the same time. Also freehand drawing and navigating doesn’t need a stylus such as IRex does. Imagine the time saved…

In my opinion Plastic Logic have got everything right, from scribbler to highlighter to processing speed – it’s clearly well thought out and well worth the roughly £410.00 (4GB QUE model, WiFi enabled) or £500.00 (8GB QUE model, WiFi and 3G enabled) you’ll spend on it.
