Unveiling its second-generation PC, Intel has introduced a convertible Tablet PC-style design that features a touchscreen. With its 9-inch screen and 1 GB RAM, the Classmate 2 is a basically a user-friendly model. The launcher screen is responsive enough for users (even kids) to run various applications. Although the classmate version is quite robust and sturdy, it may disappoint you with the same old resolution of 808 x 480 pixels.

Other specifications that the consumers may be looking for include a well-placed webcam, a 1.6GHz Atom 270 processor and a 60 GB HDD. Moreover, it is also integrated with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The specifications are more or less equal to the entry-level Asus Eee PC 701 4G, but the Classmate 2 is even more user friendly. Furthermore, when compared to the original, this classmate model has a more traditional look. The keyboard is almost the same and seems to be designed for people with smaller fingers. To enhance the convenience, Intel has made efforts that correct some of the niggling problems. This correction is quite evident in the rearrangement of keys and a more traditional layout. Moreover, the touchpad is also seems to be more like a traditional rectangular surface, which does not look appealing or visually attractive.

All in all, its bright display, rugged design and a reasonably good battery life are among the most outstanding attributes. You can go for the Classmate 2 if you are ready to ignore two main drawbacks: its low display resolution and lack of video output.
