Google’s Nexus One vs. Apple’s iPhone 3GS

Touchscreen technology has come of age. Numerous advances in multitouch technology, ranging from Apple’s extensive research which has been implemented in their iPhones, iPod Touch devices and the soon-to-be-launched iPad
The Google Nexus One is manufactured by HTC and is widely regarded as the the best Android phone on the market. The Apple manufactured iPhone is the market leader in a space many believe it revolutionized and Google’s primary competition.

Talk Time
The Nexus One offers up to 10 hours of talk time, with browsing time peaking out at 5 hours and standby time of about 290 hours. The iPhone 3GS has 5 hours talk time and up to 300 hours standby time. The Nexus one, you will notice, promises double the talk time of that provided by Apple.
Capacity
The Nexus One comes equipped with 512MB Flash memory, 512MB RAM and a 4GB Micro SD Card which is expandable to 32 GB. The iPhone has fixed hard drive capabilities – at either 16GB or 32GB – with no ability to expand hard disk capacity. An odd quirk with Google is applications can only be downloaded to the Flash memory, setting a ceiling for how many apps you can carry at any given time, whereas Apple allows you to use the capacity afforded to you indiscriminately.
Camera & Flash
The iPhone 3GS has a 3 megapixel camera and autofocus ability while the Nexus One has 5 megapixels. In an on going series of strange ommissions, the 3GS still lacks flash (both on the camera and Adobe’s version, actually) whereas the Nexus One has flash built in (both of them). A feature Apple touted in the build up to the iPhone 3GS release was its video taking capabilities and various streaming applications like Qik have propped up around this service, and the Nexus one obliges.
Interesting Features
The usual suspects like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are present in both phones, as is touch capability, but what has become evident is the game is won and lost in the apps space. Apple’s App Store now has over 140,000 applications whereas the Android App Store has only 20,000 applications. More importantly, Apple’s concerted efforts to promote its App Store and to have its App Store be centralized has given it significant advantage over Google’s splintered Android offering.
Where Google is going to win in this space is certainly not units moved – at this point, it is unlikely the Nexus One (or any other phone currently available on the market) can outsell the iPhone. Where success is to be had is if Google keeps leveraging its engineering quality to manufacture superior hardware and great built-in apps, but also its proven sales ability in luring app developers to the Android platform. The Nexus One isn’t quite the iPhone killer, but it is probably the closest thing to it as of late.

Get your facts straight before publishing a tech article. The iPhone DOES NOT have a 5 megapixel camera; it is a 3. Worst article I have read in my life.
“The iPhone has large banks of memory and offers users the ability to expand them with memory cards as well”
Oh no it doesn’t. Worst article ever!
Who the hell wrote this?
The iphone has A 3.2 MP camera!
Since when could you expand the banks of memory with memory cards?
Don’t worry

What a load of crap the guy that wrote this must on another planet
“The iPhone has fixed hard drive capabilities – at either 16GB or 32GB – with no ability to expand hard disk capacity”
Actually, the iPhone doesn’t have a hard drive, it uses flash memory too.
People are u blind. The guy said that the iPhone has 3mp while the google has 5mp. U are seriously blind. He also said that google can expand the memory while iPhone cooked 16 or 32 gb standar. Read. Read. Read.
This was a great article. Some people need to read and understand what it is that they are reading. The I phone has been around for some time now, and it do have more apps but what do you espect. Belive it or not google will give the I phone a good run in time to come.
