Dell has added to their elite Alienware devices with the M11x laptop. The 11.6-inch gaming laptop weighs 4.5 pounds and is ultraportable unlike its predecessors – the XPS and M15x. The grey-coloured device has the popular Alien head logo on the back lid, and carries on their famous brightly lit displays with electric blue or red LED lights on the sides. The keypad is lit up with lights as well, so gamers will be able to play late into the night.

Plenty of customisable features

The Alienware M11x runs on a 1.3 GHz Core 2 duo processor which can be upgraded to a 1.73 GHz for extra power. The laptop carries storage space of 500GB in its hard drive, and 4GB in its memory, so you’ll have plenty of room to download and install all your favourite games and gaming accessories. An Nvidia graphics card can be added to the system, which is probably a good idea, as it will prolong battery life, and enhance the gaming experience with awesome graphics and clear, bold colours. The LCD screen displays full HD quality with 720p resolution.

The M11x has a HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA and 3 USB outputs to hook up to external devices like your HD television to enjoy games on a bigger display. The ports also allow you to transport applications onto the software, so you can customise the laptop to your needs. The audio quality is extremely clear and crisp, making sure you experience the same level of excitement as you would on a normal gaming console.

Control the laptop in the command centre

The M11x has a command centre as most Alienware products do, where you can personalise the lighting, contrast and other effects. Users will have access to applications like AlienFX through the command centre, and it also automatically installs updates and new releases, keeping your system refreshed and up to date. The built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam gives you the opportunity to connect with family and friends.

Take it everywhere

The Alienware M11x is aimed at gamers who enjoy playing wherever they can. The laptop fits nicely into bags, and is pretty compact and durable. The keypad is a bit compressed which some might find annoying, but the eye-catching lights and cool 3D-like effects are awesome to display. The screen size of the gaming netbook may be rather small for extreme gamers, but it has the advantage of being portable. The Alienware M11x will cost you £750, but keep in mind that it may be more expensive depending on how you want to customise it.
