Longer Lasting Batteries: LG Brings Solar Displays to Notebooks

LG has moved up another step on the innovation ladder by launching new notebooks with solar displays. The main issue with almost all of the notebook users throughout the globe is that their machines run short of battery juice after few working only a few hours. It’s really frustrating when the notebooks get low on power especially when you are about to do some urgent task and don’t have the AC adapter with you.

To resolve this issue, LG has come up with a brilliant idea and launched sunlight-powered displays for the portable computing devices. These displays will offer users some huge advantages. First, it will lower the battery power consumption to a great extent. Because of this users automatically get extended work hours to do their business on the go. The new displays can be switched to the solar energy mode to conserve the battery charge and when used in the solar mode the displays use the sunlight for illumination rather than getting backlit via the battery. However, it’s obvious that for this you need to work outside under direct sunlight. Test results showed that running the display on solar energy brings down the battery power consumption to one fourth.

According to LG, the backlit displays account up to 75 percent of the total power consumption. Now you can easily imagine the amount of boost that battery will get while running the display on sunlight. This makes carrying around a spare laptop battery, like the LG XBA06LG0-W20, completely unnecessary. The solar display offers 14.1 inches of viewable screen and is optimised for viewing under direct sunlight.
