Asus Eee PC 701 8G: Easy to Learn, Easy to Work, Easy to Play

The Asus Eee PC is a subnotebook/netbook computer, a part of the ASUS Eee product family. The three e’s in ‘Eee’ stand for a notebook that it “Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play”. It is low-end PC-based notebook that runs on a simple Linux operating system. With a screen size of 7″, the netbook from the Taiwanese manufacturer Asus offers a maximum resolution of 800 x 480. The screen type is TFT WVGA while the hard disk has a capacity of 8GB. Available in black and white colours, the Asus Eee PC 701 8G’s CPU type is Intel Celeron M ULV 900MHz. It has an integrated graphics card and a video memory size of 64MB.

It is possible to upgrade the gadget to XP using the ASUS-supplied XP driver set though the user will have to buy an XP licence. It is not equipped with an optical Drive and the battery life of this Asus netbook is about 3.5 hours at one go. Weighing less than a kilo, it is extremely easy to carry it around and its operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. Since its operating system is a little different, it can take some time to get used to its working. A built-in camera and SD card reader, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, three USB ports, external monitor port and lots of built-in software are other attractive features of the Asus Eee PC 701 8G. As for the keyboard, it can be too tiny for large hands though it as comfortable as other portable laptops as far as touch-typing is concerned.

Highly recommended as a second laptop for traveling or other reasons, the compact Asus Eee PC 701 8G is targeted at second-PC buyers, children and mobile users. A Web camera and WLAN are other features that this machine comes equipped with. Very unlike the traditional laptop, it a low-cost, easy to use computer based on a small format.
