Sharkoon Flexi-Drive S2S: Make Your Own Notebook SSD

Solid State Hard Drives, popularly known as SSD, are really catching up in the market these days and replacing the old hard drives in the laptops. This is because of the enormous benefits these drives offer over the traditional ones. SSDs have a much lower latency period in terms of data read/write rate and are completely resistant to bumps and shocks. But the grey side is that such drives are too costly per gigabyte and it’s hard to find an SSD which has got more than 128 GB of storage capacity to date.

With the Sharkoon Flexi-Drive S2S, you can overcome these issues. In fact it’s an SSD adapter which lets you create a high performance Solid State Drive for yourself on your own. It has got the same size and connections of 2.5 inch SATA drives. You can add up to six SDHC cards to it in order to make a fully loaded SSD for your machine. Afterwards, you can also select the manufacturer, number and the chip type (either SLC or MLC) and the storage capacity of the memory cards. The maximum storage capacity offered by the SDHC memory cards is 32 GB. This means that you can make your own 192 GB SSD which is much better than the 128 GB or 120GB SSDs, like the OCZ Core V2 SATA II SSD, currently on the market. The Flexi-Drive uses RAID 0 and ensures that the performance of all the memory cards is same.
