Learn to Simplify USB Device Networking via SDK
By Wilson • Dec 1st, 2008 • Category: USBAlmost every PC user, or person who uses the latest computing gadgets, depends on the Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface for communication. Nowadays almost all peripherals are supported by USB and this interface has become an inseparable part of today’s electronics. The main highlight of the USB format, apart from the Plug n Play feature, is that the USB devices behave in a network environment the same way as they operate in a standalone environment. This allows device manufacturers to offer an easy to use solution to their customers without charging too much.
Keeping such advantages in mind, Silex Technology America Inc. has developed a suite of Software Developer Kits (SDKs) that will enable device manufacturers to enhance their products by easily connecting and supporting virtual sharing of any USB device; be it printers, storage devices like the Freecom Hard Drive Classic, or media players. The SDK will make it possible to connect any type of USB device with 100 percent compatibility. According to Keith Sugawara, general manager of Silex, “There are more and more homes with multiple computers and networks, making centralized access to USB devices an important application. Silex Virtual Link technology allows device manufacturers to combine multiple functions into their network device, saving cost and offering distinct product differentiation.”
