Motorola is offering comprehensive Coverage with their PDA
By Jenny • Jun 12th, 2008 • Category: PDA NewsWith the MC75, Motorola is introducing a PDA that is specially designed for business applications. The Enterprise Digital Assistant – EDA for short – supports the transfer of voice and data via HSDPA, comes with GPS navigation, including A-GPS, and a 2 megapixel camera.
The MC75 is based on Intel’s XScale-PX1270 processor with 624 MHz and runs under Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional. The device has 128 MB of RAM, although no information has been released about expanding the memory. The 152 x 84 x 44 mm MC75 communicates wirelessly via HSDPA with up to 3.6 MBit/s in downstream, and data is sent via WLAN 802.11a/b/g. That way professionals can quickly access company data, even if on a business trip abroad. However, the handheld isn’t compatible with the 802.11n wireless standard. The data encryption is carried out with WPA2 and WEP at 40 or 128 bits.
The 3.5 inch display offers a VGA resolution of 480 x 640 pixels. The 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus allows one to take pictures, including of documents or signatures, or to copy 1D and 2D barcodes to edit later. The MC75 offers a microphone, speaker, software support for duplex photos, playback in stereo, and an audio connection for headphones, as audio possibilities. The device is IP54 certified and can withstand the impact of a fall from around 1.5 metres.
The MC75 weighs 422 grams with its standard battery, and comes to 446 grams with an expanded battery. A lithium-ion battery with 3.600 mAh is included by default. Motorola did not specify the battery’s running time.
Motorola additionally offers insurance for the handheld: the MC75 receives comprehensive coverage with the “Service from the Start” package. Customers can protect themselves from the slightest damage or defect in their PDA from day one. Of course Motorola has yet to mention how much this insurance will cost.
The MC75 should be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2008. Motorola has not named any prices.
