App Store: Apple releases download figures for Applications
By Wilson • Aug 6th, 2008 • Category: iPhoneApple has recently made up-to-date download statistics available for developers of App Store applications. There was criticism earlier, because Apple did not even reveal this information on a monthly basis. Apple distributes all applications for the iPhone and iPod touch with a 2.0 firmware, as well as the iPhone 3G, over the App Store.
Multiple criticisms of the App Store surfaced from developer communities for the iPhone and Apple iPod Touch. The App Store is the only possibility, through which programmers can officially offer applications for the iPhone and iPod touch, so all developers are restricted to this outlet out of necessity.
One of the main criticisms, among others, was that Apple only released information every month on how often App Store products were purchased or downloaded. As MacRumors.com reports, this has changed and developers will now be provided with sales and download information regarding their software on a daily basis. Providers of programmes can then tweak their pricing depending on the demand.
