Archos announces five new tablets

Looking to flood the tablet market as sales for the Apple iPad have slowed down to the pace of a gentle hurricane, Archos has released five new tablets which they will be showing off at IFA 2010 come Friday in Berlin.

For the budget-minded consumer

First up at the bottom of the range we find the Archos 28 Internet tablet which is a budget tablet, coming with a 2.8-inch screen and available in a 4GB and 8GB version. The Archos 28 is set for release in September and will go for £99.

Moving along we find the bigger and more capable Archos 32 and 43 Internet tablets which come with a 3.2-inch and 4.3-inch screen respectively. The Archos 32 has a storage capacity of 8GB, while the Archos 43 has a storage capacity of 16GB. Both of these AppsLib-powered tablets will be made available to consumers in September and the 32 will go for £129, while the 43 will go for £199.

However, closer to the top of the pile we find the Archos 70 Internet Tablet which will come with a 7-inch display and go for £229 for the 8GB version and £269 for the 250GB version. Finally at the pinnacle of the Archos range of tablets we find the Archos 101, coming with a 10.1-inch screen and in either an 8GB or 16GB version.

So far it seems that Archos truly believes in the saying which goes that the bigger the better when it comes to their pricing. However, this is the only info on specs to expect from the Archos tablets being made available so far. In the press release from Archos the following exciting specs like 1GHz processors, 3D graphic acceleration and HDMI output are mentioned but not linked to any tablet.

More information will likely be released soon on these Archos tablets, making it easier for the public to pick the right one, if they do at all, come the end of September.

Archos has decided to launch its own Android Smartphone

The company will add mobile phone functionality to the IMTs and will also use Google’s Android operating system. This is a strategic move by the company.
