Grab an Eye-Fi Card: Allow Your Images to Upload Automatically

By Jenny • Dec 19th, 2008 • Category: Mobile Computing Accessory News

Taking photos via digital camera and getting them stored on to a memory card is real fun, but it becomes a headache when you have to transfer them to your PC. Even though it’s not a big deal to plug in a USB cable and transfer the files, but still it’s something that you have to remember and do whenever you get new stuff.

But now the task of data transfer from digital camera to PC can be automated. All you need to do is get an Eye-Fi Wireless SD-card for your camera and configure it to your needs. Once configured and installed in the camera, it will automatically download the photos to your PC or photo site (depending on the configuration). For this you have to connect to a home network or any Wayport hotspot and the Eye-Fi will automatically synchronise the data stored in the camera with the one stored on your computer.

The Eye-Fi offers a storage capacity of 2 GB, which means you can capture thousands of images. The only issue with this card is it that it’s highly priced. It costs around £30 more than a normal card of the same capacity. So if you are a regular traveller and don’t want to keep opening your laptop every now and then to download the images then the Eye-Fi is for you. But if most of the time you love to sit at home then try considering some other normal high capacity card available at an equivalent cost.

The Sony 12 Megapixel Image Sensor to Find Use in Sony Camera Phones

By James • Nov 18th, 2008 • Category: Uncategorized

The war in the mobile industry between competitors isn’t something new. For ages, companies have been going at it to see who gets control of market share, giving the consumers the best they can offer, and leading to the evolution of phones. Features such as Radios, cameras, GPRS features, etc. were added and phones had become more of multi purpose devices than just phones. Camera quality is one of the major areas of competition.

Competitors have been at it to bring us the best in cameras, now integrated into phones. It isn’t surprising that we see cameras in phones with 8 megapixels and above, such as the Samsung M8800 Pixon, nowadays. Mobile phone major Sony has taken the war up a notch and is ready to bring 12 megapixel camera phone sensors to the world, due for release in March 2009.

Sony is using the IMX060PQ. That’s an Exmor series CMOS image sensor, with the highest megapixel count in today’s market. It’s priced at a relatively cheap $26 dollars, and has autofocus functions as well. With the IMX060PQ scheduled for release early next year, we should be expecting the new Sony phones with these sensors by mid 2009.

It has been Sony’s dream of delivering to the world a 20- megapixel- camera phone by 2012, and this is indeed the first step, and a big one too, towards achieving that goal. Samsung has also announced similar plans for such phones, so it is likely to be a big showdown between Sony and Samsung for the camera phone market. We can only wait and see who will emerge triumphant.

By James • Oct 13th, 2008 • Category: Uncategorized

Have you ever imagined an integrated 8 megapixels camera in a mobile phone? Well if so, then your imagination has now turned into reality with LG’s latest spectacular smartphone. Snapshots and photos of this dream come true device have recently been leaked, leading to rumours the device could be released as soon as next month.

A few months back, UK citizens received a treat from LG in the form of the LG Renoir (AKA KC910). And now merely few days back, LG has again shattered the existing brands in the UK by introducing its latest creation called the LG KC780. Two things make this mobile stand out from among the crowd: firstly, is ultra slim and thin design, and secondly its spectacular integrated 8 megapixel camera than somehow found room inside the tiny frame. LG’s believes that the phone has that calibre to beat existing competitor models and to yield maximum profits. The LG KC780 is actually a little less advanced than its elder brother the LG KC910. The phone’s has a thickness of a mere 14 mm, making it a fan favourite, along with a 2.4 inch widescreen LCD screen.

The mobile’s biggest strength is its 8 megapixels camera, which includes many more features than expected. Apart from clicking images, a user can also record video close to HD resolutions (expect 640×480 pixels). Its amazing image capturing device also includes a sensibility of ISO 1600, face detection technology, an image stabiliser, smile detection and a beauty mode to assist you in capturing beautiful and natural images. So it seems the phone may overshadow many existing phones on the market, at least in terms of photographic potential.
