Dell Inspiron 1545: Graphics and Multimedia Notebook

By Jenny • Apr 15th, 2009 • Category: Laptops

The Dell Inspiron 1545 is a integrated graphics multimedia notebook from Dell. A budget notebook in the true sense, Dell Inspiron 1545 is available in matte black colour. Other colours like Microsatin Blue, Red or Pacific High-Gloss Blue lids are also available at an extra cost. The sleek and stylish look matches the high performance of the machine. Besides the keyboard and touchpad, a speaker grille and small square chromed power button above the keyboard are present. The material used to manufacture the note book is solid and strong. The fact that inside the note book, every inch besides the sides, keyboard and touchpad are also glossy is a sort of a drawback. The glossy finish on the inside of the note book results in fingerprints and streaks over it, which makes the gadget look messy. Moreover, no cleaning cloth has been provided for cleaning marks of fingerprints and other streaks that are bound to show on the shiny material. This also means that the laptop though good looking needs regular cleaning and wiping as it shows the tiniest of streak and marks. The shape of the notebook from the world’s number two PC maker is sleek, streamlined and minimalist.

Features of Dell Inspiron 1545 include DVD-Rewriter and memory card reader. But a webcam is missing and there is a 34mm ExpressCard slot rather than the more usual 54mm version. In addition a headphone and microphone jacks, 3 USB ports, an Ethernet port and VGA-out are present. The Dell Inspiron 1545 also boasts a 15.6-inch widescreen, which promises to display the best picture quality. It runs on a Core 2 Duo processor with a maximum speed of 2.53GHz. It has up to 4GB memory and for its operating systems, the user has a choice between Windows Vista and Ubuntu.

Dell Inspiron e1505: Compact but Powerful

By James • Sep 19th, 2008 • Category: Laptops

Dell’s laptops are always rated among the best out there. Never content to rest on their laurels, Dell proudly presents the Dell Inspiron e1505. This model is manages to impress with its features and sensational 15.4 inch widescreen display.

The rather large display is definitely the most attractive and eye-catching feature on this laptop. It’s actually a treat for those who want a bigger view for both navigation and entertainment purposes. The powerful laptop incorporates and Intel Dual Core processor with a speed of 1.66 GHz. The 512MB of RAM is unfortunately somewhat lacking, but the 100 GB of hard disk space is definitely more than enough for most purposes. The Dell XPS 1530 Laptop, on the other hand, has only a marginally more powerful processor, but far more RAM, pointing out the clear RAM deficiency the E1505 suffers from.  Excellent sound quality is rarely found in laptops, but this Inspiron is the exception with its built-in speakers that actually manage to produce a full bass. The laptop’s battery also lasts above average, making the computer especially portable. Anyone looking for a quality lower end notebook, can easily settle for this beauty by Dell.

Dell’s Mini-Laptop is coming this Summer

By Alexis • Jun 6th, 2008 • Category: Laptops, Mobile Computer News

Dell has confirmed in front of US journalists that the “Inspiron Mini”, an affordable laptop along the same lines as the Eee PC, will hit markets in the summer of 2008. But Dell is still keeping the laptop’s exact specifications secret.

“We’re starting this summer”, Dell’s president of the consumer department told APC magazine. While Dell has already referred to the device on their website as the “Inspiron Mini”, the company does not want to reveal any information regarding its specifications. However, insider circles have discovered that the computer will be imbued with Intel’s Atom processor. Whether they will use a trimmed down version of Windows XP for cheap computers or Ubuntu Linux, has yet to be decided according to APC.

The journalists have discovered that Dell is working foremost on the computer’s keyboard. Some of the standard function keys are missing, but the rest of the computer’s operating keys should be larger as a result. According to APC, the current device even differs slightly from the version that Michael Dell introduced at the “All Things Digital” conference at the end of May.

The rest of configuration appears, based on the information gathered so far and pictures released by Dell, to correspond to the general standards of mini-laptops today: 8.9 inch display, three USB ports, and a VGA output are most likely certain to be included. It’s still unclear whether Dell will include the smaller SSD or instead opt for the larger, but more expensive, 1.8 inch hard drive. In the booming market of inexpensive PCs, Dell is definitely going to face some competition with an August 2008 release: Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, HP, MSI and VIA have all already announced similar devices, which should appear even before the Inspiron Mini. All of these mini computers should cost around 300 US dollars (£150). Dell has yet to reveal whether the Inspiron Mini will fall in the same price range.
