MSI rolls out the U115 SSD-HDD Hybrid Netbook

By Wilson • Jan 5th, 2009 • Category: Netbooks

MSI, a leading manufacturer of PC, netbooks and other computing peripherals, has recently unveiled its new hybrid netbook called the U115 Hybrid. The specialty of this netbook is that it equips both a legacy hard disk drive (HDD) and the much more advanced Solid State Drive (SSD). So you don’t have to get confused again between the secondary storage technologies while choosing a mobile computing machine.

The U115 Hybrid is expected to be a high performer. However it’s a natural thought that accommodating two different storage devices will drain out the battery power quickly. MSI insists it has already taken this into consideration and is providing the netbook with a little bit of extra juice to offset any power drain effect. The users will be able to switch between the SSD and HDD simply by using the ECO mode. The SSD is more energy efficient and as a result saves battery life.

Coming to the hardware configuration, the U115 Hybrid packs pretty satisfactory equipment into its compact and sleek body. An Intel Atom CPU is the life of this netbook and there is 1GB RAM, a 10in 1024 x 600 LCD screen, 2MP webcam, card reader, 3x USB 2.0 slots and WiFi. Essentially the same configuration as the popular MSI Wind U100 and everything you may need to access on the go is included. In addition to this, you can also opt for the wireless and Bluetooth v2.0 with EDR.

The U115 Hybrid seems to be a great deal. Ergonomically, it’s a handy computing machine which offers an easy to use keyboard and high precision touch pad.
