Hyundai MB-910: New Wristwatch Phone to make James Bond proud

By James • Mar 16th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized

Just like LG recently did, Hyundai Mobile has also decided to launch a wristwatch phone for the busy professionals on the move. It seems that more and more mobile technology innovators want us to talk via our wrists in the near future. Hyundai’s wristwatch phone is a great gadget to have, especially if you are a true fan of James Bond.

Hyundai, the company better known for its cars, has experience in manufacturing all manners of electricals, from compact digital cameras to portable media players like the Hyundai HM-T4300E 2GB. That being said, Hyundai is obviously a fairly unknown player when it comes to manufacturing mobile phones, let alone mobile phone wristwatch hybrids. Nevertheless, the company has clearly succeeded with the MB-910 in making something that completely resembles a watch, and yet has practically all the phoning capabilities of a standard Nokia mobile phone, for example. The Wristwatch Phone developed by Hyundai Mobile, i.e. MP-910 uses a 132 x 176 pixel 65k colour touchscreen display and measures just 58 x 44 x 16 mm. It’s not the world’s first phone converged with a wristwatch. The LG has already offered such a phone in near past but the one from Hyundai seems to offer something extra. It has got Bluetooth functionality that can be used to stream calls directly to a wireless headset. Besides this the MP-910 is also compliant with SMS and MMS standards.

Once charged, the MP-910 can offer a standby of 70 hours and can offer three hours of non-stop calling. It’s a Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz phone which supports GPRS, WAP and USB. Hyundai Mobile director Roland Prinz said, “The Hyundai Mobile brand is about the latest cutting edge technology at a price point which is accessible to the masses. We have high hopes for the MB-910’s entry to the UK market. We are delighted to confirm that we intend to make the MB-910 available in the UK and we will announce our specific plans shortly.”

In this modern era most of us prefer computing on the go. Our computing gadgets are getting more diminutive day by day and they are smarter too. Data usage is also increasing. An average mobile device user maintains gigabytes of data which is crucial for his work and entertainment. So, it’s imperative to have a good backup solution that not only saves the user from data loss but also offers data retrieval on the go.

It’s an online data back up and storage solution that will update and maintain data in real time. The My Phone service will host space for storing photos, videos, text messages and calendar items. Apart from using it as a real time back up service the users will also be able to share their data among each other.

My Phone was initially named Skybox. It will be a great service to use as it will not only offer data backup and data sharing but also enable the users to access their mobile information via PC also.

Scott Rockfeld, Director in the Windows Mobile group at the Microsoft Corp. commented, “This new Microsoft cloud service syncs critical information (e.g., contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, text messages, photos, video, etc) on a user’s mobile phone to a password protected Web site. Once synchronized, people can easily back-up and restore mobile phone data. My Phone provides an easy to use Web portal where people can access and manage content on the phone, and share that information with others.”

The growing craze of slim and sleek smartphones is evident in the increasing number of such devices in the handheld market. As such, nearly every manufacturer seems to be joining the race by producing smarter and slimmer smartphones. After presenting two competent models, namely, Atom Life and Atom V, MWg has launched another model, named the Zinc II. The latest gadget not only claims to be better than its predecessor, but is also thinner than many of its rivals.

The slider phone featuring a QWERTY keyboard is just 18mm thick, which makes it slimmer than the HTC TyTn II, or . The exclusively slim figure of the trendy MWG Zinc II features a built-in GPS, Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 OS and a Samsung SC32442 (500MHz) processor. The 2.8 inch screen and a 2 megapixel camera are among the other main specifications of the MWg Zinc II.

As a matter of fact, it is not possible to avoid a comparison between the HTC TyTn and the Zinc II, since the later is a definitely a cheaper alternative with pretty good features. While some users find the keyboard to be a little inconvenient, the touch screen is a certainly a fine option.

The specifications of the slender and smart gadget clearly reflect the efforts of MWg in producing a capable smartphone, which is indeed their best to date. Overall, it is a reasonably good device, which can be further improved by enhancing the memory.
