Quake 3 Arena: Now available for Nokia Smartphones

By Jenny • Dec 10th, 2008 • Category: Nokia

Gaming enthusiasts know Quake 3 Arena very well. It is a high-end 3D first person shooter with extraordinary graphics, game play and themes. This game is already popular on the desktop and mobile computing world, but has now also been introduced to smartphones recently. The original Quake game was ported to the Symbian S60 platform and then the Quake 3 Arena headed towards Apple iPhone and iPod touch and earned lots of fans.

Now the same title has been rolled out for use on selected Nokia smartphones as well. Every Nokia smartphone that features 128MB of RAM, and relies on Texas Instrument’s OMAP 2420 CPU, can play Quake 3 Arena without any glitches. For example: the Nokia N95 8GB (not the original N95, as it does not meet required specifications), N82 and E90 Communicator and this time you will experience more fun and excitement while playing the game. This is because the game supports Bluetooth accessories including keyboard and mouse which will make you play the game in the same manner you enjoyed it on your PC. Just like the PC version this one also supports multiplayer gaming. So, you can always connect it to a game server and begin playing with your rivals.

Nokia E63: Based on the Nokia E71

By James • Nov 14th, 2008 • Category: Nokia

Nokia has rolled out its new smartphone named E63 in the mobile market. This one is designed to offer a wide range of functionality at a relatively cheaper price tag.

As far as the design of the E63 is concerned it looks similar to the Nokia E71 with little modifications, to make it an affordable one. Instead of a rugged metal finish the E63 has got a plastic covering in two stunning colors, i.e. ruby red and ultramarine blue. The overall thickness too is more than E71. So if you are looking for a sleek smartphone then you may find E63 a little bit disappointing but feature wise it is an ideal piece to grab.

Based on the Symbian S60 operating system version 3.1 the Nokia E63 possess a large QWERTY keyboard having spacious push buttons so you can type the messages easily. It supports both 2G (GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 / GSM 850) as well as 3G (UMTS 2100 / UMTS 900) networks. The TFT display is a decent one and supports a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Besides this the E63 is compliant with numerous networking options such as GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSCSD, WLAN, USB, Bluetooth and WAP.

Additional attractions include support for SMS, MMS, built in 2 MP (1600×1200 pixels) camera, java enabled games, MP3/AAC/MPEG4 player, T9, FM radio and PIM. The battery too is a good performer as it offers 410h of standby and 10h 30m of talk time (both on GSM).
