Toshiba have introduced the first laptop to display images on your TV using a wireless network. The Satellite E205 is a 14-inch notebook that’s got a modern design and a glossy black and blue finish. The laptop works well for surfing the web, but the main feature is the Intel wireless technology called wi-di. The Toshiba E205 has a backlit keyboard to help in low light areas, and the touchpad uses multi-touch technology to easily sweep through websites without having to connect a mouse.
Powerful display
The Toshiba Satellite E205 uses a 2.2 Core i5 processor, producing a strong performance along with 4GB of RAM. The laptop is quite big and weighs 5.2 pounds, but the E205 is only 1.2 inches thin and this makes it relatively portable. Toshiba’s new laptop offers loads of plug-ins, with the USB and HDMI port you can enjoy loading all your favourite TV shows and movies. The Ethernet port makes it easy to connect to the Internet if you’re not at home, and the headphone jacks make it possible to enjoy a movie without bothering people around you. The combo USB/e-SATA port provides quick transfers when using an external hard drive.

The Satellite E205 comes with a Netgear Push2TV adapter. This little device connects your TV with the laptop and is easy to set up. A full HD television is needed for this device, and the Toshiba laptop will produce 720p resolution. The keypad has a range of buttons on the right side to control the video streaming like volume options, play/pause buttons and more. The wireless technology does have a two second delay time, and images on your laptop will be displayed at a different time on your TV, but not to worry, no quality is lost and the picture will be as clear and sharp as ever. Wi-di is also great to use as a wireless sound system, and links up to your stereos in the house to produce awesome surround sound.
What to expect
The Toshiba Satellite E205 uses a new technology that most people would be interested to have in their homes. Streaming videos and movies has never been easier, and the laptop will also work well for Powerpoint presentations. The quality is awesome but the E205 isn’t a suitable source for playing powerful PC games seeing as the graphics may lag. The glossy case leaves fingerprint marks, and the left and right mouse buttons are stiff to use. Other than those minor complications, the new Toshiba laptop does have the Wi-di technology, making it a nifty little device to own. The Satellite E205 is priced at $999 (approximately £650).
