Toshiba’s Tecra laptop range has always been sturdy and packed with features. Though priced at a premium over other laptops, they just happen to do more, and the Tecra A11-11H is no different.
Specs
The Toshiba Tecra A11-11H is powered by an Intel Core i5-520m running at a minimum of 2.4GHz all the way up to 2.93GHz with 3MB of second-level cache. The core setup has 2GB (expandable to 8GB) of DDR3 SDRAM running at 1066MHz. The laptop has a 250GB SATA hard drive.
The LCD is a 1366 x 768 15 6-inch TFT WXGA screen and comes packed in with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional.
Positioned for professionals

The Toshiba Tecra laptop is positioned as a high quality laptop for professionals, and this is true to some extent. The Intel Core i5 is very competent at multi-tasking, meaning running Outlook, Office and other productivity apps simultaneously works seamlessly. When upping those requirements to more resource intensive applications like Photoshop or editing suites, the machine chugs a bit when multi-tasked.
Aesthetics
While it looks decent, the Toshiba Tecra A11-11H is hardly aesthetically outstanding. An all black finish with a smooth surface means it checks all the boxes contemporary laptops do without pushing any boundaries, which, for most people, is enough.
To buy or not to buy
The thing about the Tecra laptop is that it is very capable, able to do far more than most office professionals need. The ability to run Office and an email client with no hitches is sufficient. The packed in mini-Display port allows for easy connection with HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort devices, in addition to VGA output, making connecting it to a wide range of projection devices possible. As such, this Toshiba laptop is what you expect from Toshiba – really good.
