Billion Electric Launches the BiGuard S3000 Product to offer Secure Data Access

By James • Dec 18th, 2008 • Category: Features, Mobile Computing Accessory News

Billion Electric, the leading manufacturer of network communications equipment, has recently launched the BiGuard S3000, which is a SSL VPN Router and a firewall. This product launch is in response to the demands of employees from small to medium sized firms (SMEs) who want secured access to their enterprise network services on the go.

The BiGuard S3000 is a one box solution for this. It acts as a Gigabit dual-Wan SSL/IPSec VPN security gateway that can be sued in the SMEs with 150 to 500 employees, and in this manner differs from other BIllion routers, like the Billion BIPAC 5102A. The dual Gigabit WAN connections are deliberately installed into the BiGuard system so that it only provides resilience but also be used for high speed back up purposes. With BiGuard S3000 you can have ten concurrent SSL VPN tunnels and up to 80,000 concurrent sessions. You can also get the system upgraded to support up to 50 concurrent SSL VPN tunnels. As far as the installation and flexibility of this device is concerned it’s easy to implement in the organisations and can be integrated with the existing IT infrastructure without any hassles.

Any authorised user can use the BiGuard S3000 to access his data remotely with utmost security. For this purpose an Internet connection is however required so that the user can log into the network and access the resources.

OmniAccess 3500: A new way to secure your Laptop

By James • Nov 3rd, 2008 • Category: Features, Mobile Computing Accessory News

Alcatel-Lucent, world leader in telecommunications, has launched a new innovative product: the OmniAccess 3500. This new unique innovation offers complete security for your laptop and stored data. The whole product consists of a gateway server, software client and a laptop card. Using this product IT professionals can remotely control the notebooks. In case the laptop gets stolen, the users can lock down the hard disk and the laptop completely. This way the data cannot be retrieved by somebody else without your consent.

The PCMCIA card that is a part of the whole product carries a GPS receiver and holds a SIM card. As a result you can gather information about the laptop’s location via SingTel’s mobile network, even if the device is offline. This way the device can be tracked on a map. The card also has a battery which keeps the tracking system on even if the laptop is turned OFF. Indeed, the OmniAccess 3500 goes a step beyond a simple fingerprint sensor like the Digitus USB Fingerprint-Sensor Desktop Version accessory. Ricky Ong, director, security solutions, enterprise business group, Alcatel-Lucent Asia-Pacific, said, “Many users have to jump through hoops to stay secure. The device is like a single sign-on system, and it’s automatic for users.” This product aims at providing an easy way to secure company information. It is an ideal security solution, especially when most of the users log on to network enabled devices or use VPN (Virtual Private Network).

This offering is meant for large enterprises as it involves heavy costs. According to Ong Geok Chwee, director of business development and segment marketing of SingTel’s business group some SMBs may sign up for this service to secure its upper management netbooks that contain sensitive information.
