The Sony Ericsson P800 is unequivocally among one of Sony’s most versatile and remarkable models in the smartphone category. What really tilts the balance in its favour is the number of unique onboard features, including a relatively large display screen, the Symbian OS 7, and support for GPRS. In fact, as one of the first Symbian smartphones available, this particular phone paved the way for all those to follow, including successful models like the Sony-Ericsson P990i. To add to that, the P800 also has Bluetooth and a VGA camera. Another intriguing aspect of the unit is that it has a commendable reception and call clarity. Moreover, it also has the CIC Jot for handwriting recognition, which allows you to enter data using natural print characters. You will also find all the standard PIM applications onboard including Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and a memo pad supporting ink notes. Conspicuously designed with a metallic sky blue and silver finish it is no less attractive and will certainly make many a heads turn.

The units PC Suite feature with the standard desktop apps for Symbian smartphones, is quite advantageous for users, along with its desktop USB sync cradle. Using the PC suite feather you can sync, transfer files and backup the phone. Then there is also the Bluetooth option, which comes into play if you don’t wish to use the cradle, and you can then effectively sync it wirelessly. You will also find it interesting to know that the P800 has a built-in digicam included within. The camera is capable of taking shots in VGA resolution depending on your choice of three settings. You can customize the brightness, contrast and lighting settings. The resulting image quality is reasonable enough, unless of course you take shots of indoors that are not properly lit. Talking of compatibility it works with basically any SIM card provider, and works on 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands.
