LG has offered lots of products ranging from consumer durables to mobile phones, but the company is also well established in the smartphone market. However, these days it is difficult to name a company that is now established in the smartphone market in some form or another. Despite the advent of Google’s open source Android mobile OS, and other rival operating systems like Symbian, LG remains focused on producing Windows Mobile creations. Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Pantech, Glofiish and many more all join LG in their commitment to Windows Mobile. With rivals like the Blackberry OS, Symbian S60, Apple’s own operating system for its iPhone and Google’s Android, both LG and Microsoft clearly have their work cut out for them.

The strategic collaboration with the Microsoft will provide the LG a new and strong mobile platform. Consequently, the LG phones will also have the extended functions and capabilities we are now seeing in the company’s latest creations like the LG Viewty KU990. According to the LG, “The agreement ensures continued strategic collaboration in R&D, marketing, applications, and services in the field of converged mobile devices.” LG is finally targeting towards tackling the smartphone market in an unprecedented manner.
