Fujitsu ESPRIMO MA: a Tablet PC for Doctors
By Wilson • Dec 1st, 2008 • Category: UncategorizedFujitsu has just launched a new tablet PC called ESPRIMO MA, which has been developed specially for healthcare professionals. In fact, it is a health tablet which is rugged and optimised for the use by the doctors and nurses. ESPRIMO MA, which is targeted towards the health sector, can be used in hospitals, wards and while visiting patients without any hassles. It has got a fully sealed housing that can be sterilized. This makes the ESPRIMO MA a unique and necessary device. Another amazing feature of this newbie is that it is passively cooled and does not have any fan installed. This makes it an ideal gadget to use even in the operation theatre.
The ESPRIMO MA is lightweight and is based on the Intel Mobile Clinical Assistant platform. It supports 3G and wireless LAN and has got a dual smartcard reader, unlike the more regular and standard Fujitsu-Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5505, and an integrated barcode and RFID reader. The smartcard functionality ensures the authenticity of the healthcare professionals and as a result there’s no risk. It also meets all the standards of Germany’s gematik health IT agency.
Armin Kumpf, senior director, Fujitsu Siemens Computers commented, “Many modern clinics have already recognized that a specialist mobility strategy is increasingly important to maximize the efficiency of processes and for patient well-being. As a result, demand for mobile PCs in the healthcare sector is at an all time high.”
